About Jennie

Book and Media Author

Jennie  Bergerson grew up in Michigan.  Jennie is a classically trained  musician, as were her mother, grandmother, great aunts/uncles and her  great grandfather.  Jennie was a vocal major in college (mezzo soprano)  but also studied violin and classical guitar during her college years.  She recently has become very interested in Hawaiian music and has  studied ukulele and slack key guitar with Grammy award winning artists  Herb Ohta Jr., Keola Beamer, Jeff Peterson and John Keawe.

Jennie holds a bachelors degree from Western Michigan University in  Music Education, with a minor in Elementary Education.  However, after  student teaching in both general music and a 1st grade classroom, Jennie knew she enjoyed teaching music much more than regular education classes.

Jennie taught music for one year at a private school in Michigan.   Finding that she could not live on the salary, she decided to look for  another teaching position.  At the time, teaching jobs in Michigan were  few and far between.  Remembering a trip to the southwest, Jennie  decided to try her luck in Phoenix, Arizona.  Fortunately for Jennie,  Arizona was looking for teachers and after four months of substitute  teaching, Jennie was offered a music job in a Phoenix suburb.

A few years after moving to the Phoenix area, the governor of Arizona  made it mandatory for teachers to hold a masters degree (or the  equivalent in course hours).  Due to this and her love of technology,  Jennie attended and earned her masters in Educational Media and  Computers from Arizona State University.  Knowing that she preferred   teaching “specials” to regular ed., she became a Technology Educator of  junior high students.

Jennie taught either general music, chorus, band or technology for a  total of thirty years.  During this time Jennie also was invited to  teach numerous professional development technology classes to her peers  as well as asked to create many multimedia presentations for other  professionals.

Jennie has used her knowledge and experience in the educational field  to write a book as well as found her company “The Write JAB” (Jennie’s  initials) where Jennie works as a Presentation Specialist, creating  multimedia presentations for her clients.
